I have been looking for both items but not necessarily to wear them together. When I tried it on in the dressing room (picture attached-me on tippy toes) I was surprised that both items fit well and they were actually cute to wear together.This is the first time I actually purchased something from Club Monaco; not for any other reason than the fact that I have just never walked into any of their stores. I am not totally sure why I never walked into a Club Monaco, but I suspect it has something to do with the display window. Their window displays are simple and usually with multiple mannequins wearing the same exact garments. I really don't get this.
I tried on the vest with a variety of clothes from my closet and the vest looks great with everything. I recently wore the vest with a white shirt underneath and it looked very nice and professional for work. However, the shorts is not a purchase that I am ecstatic about....Something about the shorts, maybe the pleats??... that I am not 100% happy about, or maybe... I am having a problem with the shorts because I can not get as much use as I want to from them since the Fall is here already. I can't put my finger on it but I know that when I purchase something I have to be completely in love with the item in a way that I can't wait to wear it in 100 different ways. This is how I feel about the vest but not about the shorts.
2 re-occurring lessons for me...
1. You will not know what a garment/accessory looks like until you go into the dressing room and try it on. (A.K.A. Don't knock it till you try it)
2. If you are not crazy in love with an item, don't get it, because it will just sit in your closet taking up valuable NYC real estate space.

Try wearing dark coloured tights underneath the shorts for Fall.
I always end up getting things for Summer in Fall and then things for Fall in Summer, and getting all annoyed because I can't wear the outfits I like when I want to!

Luv the vest, always have liked the look. Don't like the shorts, or the outfit together. I do luv the shorts, but they always seem to look so different on me because of the rump. Have you thought about the vest with a denim skirt...any style and length?
